The basic rank structure for the UTA starts at:
Private: The basic rank in the UTA, the bulk of Marines.
Private 2nd Grade: A rank reserved for soldiers who outshine their peers, those who achieve this rank are given more opportunities for advancement.
Corpral: Team leaders for a squad, usually only the best and most experienced soldiers get this opportunity.
Sergeant: The squad leader, top of his class in every way, the true leader of soldiers, and a disciplined professional.
Lieutenant: The platoon leader, those few NCO's that go to officer school.
Captain: The company commander, the first step in strategic leadership.
